DloadDescript v3.1
------------------
Written by Ray Akey for C-Net Amiga v3.0+
Programmed using the SAS C programming environment
Changes v3.1
------------
1. Added user selectable ANSI output option.
2. "Replace old descriptions" now properly defaults to "N".
3. Carriage Returns are removed from short description before saving to
description file. (CNet uses a carriage return to format short
descriptions)
4. Internal bug fix where "max selections = 0" fixed. DloadDescript
(wrongly) assumed "0" as the max selection number (doh!)
5. Version string now added. ("VERSION dloaddescript" in any shell to check)
Changes v3.0
------------
1. Output format changed so that CNet Sysops can use the output file of
dloaddescript as FILES.BBS.
2. Updated/recompiled with CNet/3 headers.
3. All existing Enforcer hits stomped.
4. No onger tries to find a description for an existing (selected)
description file.
Changes v2.0
------------
1. Bug fix with improper path searching.
2. Now grabs complete short description whether 1-8 lines long.
3. Now allows users to append new descriptions to an old/existing list.
What is it?
-----------
DloadDescript was inspired by many suggestions on Future World by other
sysops wanting the option to be able to download the descriptions of the
files in their select list.
Well, here it is. Installation is very simple:
Copy the file "DloadDescript" to Pfiles: or any other appropriate directory
from where you wish the program to be accessed.
Edit section "24; Abort/Logoff prompt before file transfer" and add the
following to the last line in that section:
Descriptions |\#2pfiles:DloadDescript\
You may also wish to add something similar to the following, to line 615
of your BBSTEXT:
\n2[D]=Download File Descripts, [L]ogoff upon completion, [A]bort, [Begin]:\q1
Operation:
----------
When DloadDescript is called into action, it searches all selections in
the current user's select list, and adds the file's descriptions to a textfile
in the user's mail directory. The filename will be called <SYSTEMID>.Descripts
and it will be deleted when the user has;
a) downloaded that description list,
b) deselected that filename,
c) cleared the select list,
OR
d) Called DloadDescript again for a new set of descriptions and
selects "NO" at the "delete/replace existing descriptions"
prompt.
NOTE: <SYSTEMID> in the above example is the system ID name that you set for
your system in C-Net's "Config" program.
Well, that's it. Hope you get good use out of the program. It's relatively
small and is a great lifesaver if something is downloaded and you or the user
can't remember what that "mystuff.lha" file was.
